BIMT POLICIES AND REGULATIONS

Enrollment at the Institute is a privilege, not a right. BIMT students are required to comply with all current policies and regulations.

FOREIGN STUDENTS
To enroll at BIMT, foreign-born applicants must hold US citizenship or a valid residency visa.  Currently, BIMT is not authorized to enroll non-immigrant alien students. Foreign-born applicants should note that candidates for New York State licensure, must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the U.S.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
English language proficiency is required for effective communication with patients and successful clinical practice.  Students with foreign education must demonstrate English language proficiency as the Massage Therapy program is only taught in English. This may be evidenced by submission of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of at least 450 (paper version) or 133 (computerized version)  prior to enrollment at the Institute. The TOEFL requirement will be waived for students who have earned at least 24 college credits from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Secretary of Education.

TRANSFER CREDITS
BIMT may accept transfer credits from another massage school whose program is comparable to the one  given at the Institute.  All requests for transfer credits must be made prior to enrollment in the Massage Therapy program. BIMT will not accept transfer credits for courses taken more than seven ( 7 ) years ago. Requests for transfer credits after enrollment at BIMT will not be granted. No exceptions will be made.  All official transcripts must be mailed directly to BIMT as students copies will not be accepted. BIMT will not grant transfer credit for any clinical internship hours completed at other schools. Students will be informed in writing of the acceptance or denial of transfer credits prior to registration.   If a student is currently certified for CPR and First Aid, the CPR and First Aid requirement may be waived.  He/she must provide current and valid evidence of CPR and First Aid certification, at time of graduation.
According to the New York State Education Department policy, a maximum of 250 clock hours may be transferred from a previous institution into the program. All transfer students must meet BIMT residency requirement of three (3) quarters of full-time study at the Institute.

BIMT will not grant transfer credit for any clinical internship hours completed at any other school. Students will be informed in writing of the acceptance or denial of transfer credits prior to registration. If a student is currently certified for CPR and First Aid, the CPR and First Aid requirement may be waived provided valid evidence of CPR and First Aid Certification is submitted prior to enrollment.

TRANSFER CREDIT FROM A FOREIGN INSTITUTION: If the official transcript is in a foreign language, it must be translated into English and evaluated for authenticity by World Education Services (WES).  A fee applies for this service and must be sent direct to WES. To qualify for transfer credit, the transfer work must be equivalent to the educational BIMT coursework for content, objectives, required learning, and classroom hours. The student must earn a minimal grade of "C" (75%) in each course to be eligible for transfer credit.

ENROLLMENT AGREEMENT
Before the beginning of classes, enrolled students are required to sign an Enrollment Agreement which ascertains that students have agreed to abide with all BIMT's current policies and regulations, including payment of all financial obligations or indebtedness to the Institute.  Students are not allowed to attend classes without completion and execution of the Enrollment Agreement.
Students are required to pay all tuition and fees due to the Institute at time of execution of the Enrollment Agreement.
